Dan Moi

The Dan moi is the traditional jaw harp of the Meo (Hmung) people of Vietnam. Made of very thin brass carried in a bright fabric covered case, these jaw harps have become very popular as tourist instruments. Now made in factories rather than by hand, dan moi are available in a variety of sizes and styler. These modern dan moi are being made more durable and precise than the traditional instruments, and the demand for them around the world by jaw harp performers is rapidly increasing. Dan moi translates literally as "instrument of the lips" and they are perhaps one of the most versatile jaw harps available.
