Fujara - Slovakia The fujara is a very long double-channeled duct flute from Slovakia that has become quite popular throughout Europe and is gaining popularity in North America for its distinctive sound. The longest pipe can reach up to six feet or 2 meters in length and has three finger holes. A smaller pipe that contains the mouthpiece is connected to the top of the long pipe. Many modern instruments are made in a number of pieces so the instrument can be dismantled for travel, yet traditional instruments still seem to sound better. The fujara is usually played in overtones by overblowing, and is held vertically. Country: Slovakia Region: Europe Type: wind |
